Hello,
I'm looking at building a Zone camera, and am still figuring out how the whole build works. I'm mainly still wondering how the Mamiya Press Lenses work, and exactly what components need to be added to purchased to work with the printed parts for the camera. I understand how the back works, thanks to the great video on Dora's youtube channel, but the functioning of these lenses is still a little murky to me.
If someone could give me a rundown on how the parts work together, and what exactly needs to be purchased (lense, shutter, trigger cable, back, etc...) it would be greatly appreciated!
Best wishes,
Nathanael
the shutter is part of the mamiya press lens. A trigger cable may be usefull, but is not absolutely necessary. The rb back is the choice No.1, but you could also use the printed back, but then would have to work a lot to get it lighttight.. You need a number of screws and nuts described in the goodman one folder, you could download. All the rest are printed parts and you will have to choose, which of them you want or which you could leave. You will have to clean the print and then assemble the camera described in Dora's video tut. That's all you need...
Thank you very much for the fast reply! I've been looking into how the mamiya press lenses work, very interesting that the shutter is in the lens itself. I'm used to slr lenses so it threw me for a bit of a loop! I've been looking through the download folder but was confused because I didn't understand how the shutter was working, makes sense now that I know it's in the lens. Thanks for clarifying things!
I'm also at a bit of a loss after doing some research. Can someone give a few examples of the specific parts they purchased? I assume eBay is the best source?
